Early Life and Struggles

So, there was a person named Chung Joo Young who came into this world in the year 1915. They were born in a teeny-tiny village in a place called Tongkong, which is now in North Korea. The Japanese empire was in charge of Korea at the time, and they weren't very nice about it. Chung was born into a family that didn't have a lot of money. Because the economy was really bad and the rules were very strict where they lived, his family had to work for a long time on the farm just to have enough money to buy food. Even though Chung really wanted to be a teacher, he had to leave school when he was 14 and start working on the farm with his dad. They hardly had enough food to eat, and if they had a bad crop, they could go hungry for a long time.

When Chung was 16 years old, he left his village and walked for a really long time through the scariest parts of the country to get to the city of Kawan. So, this person got a job working in construction, and they were really happy about it because it meant they didn't have to work on a farm anymore. But, you see, he got caught, and his dad brought him back. So, there was this person named Chung who really didn't want to be poor anymore. They tried to run away from their poor life two more times to a place called Seoul, which is a big city. But every time they tried, they got caught and brought back to where they came from. Even though his dad told him not to, he couldn't help but want a better life ahead of him.

So, Chung saw that the village didn't have enough food for the winter because the harvest was not good. This was the fourth time that Chung decided to leave the village and go somewhere else. He did all kinds of jobs that were available to him. He worked as a person who does physical work, like moving things around, as a person who builds things, and later as someone who helps with different tasks at a factory that makes a type of sweet liquid called starch syrup. His life started to get better when he got a job at a place that sells rice. So, this person started working at the store and did a really good job. They got promoted a lot and eventually became the boss of the store. They made the store really great, and now it's one of the best places to buy rice in town.

The Journey to Success

Unfortunately, the Japanese colonial government imposed a restriction on the quantity of rice that individuals were permitted to consume. Because of this rule, Chung had to shut down his business. So, this person went back to the village where he grew up. But he had this idea in his mind about making things better in the future. So, in the year 1940, he decided to go back to the city. So, what happened was that this guy decided to start a business fixing cars. But he didn't have enough money to buy a place to do the repairs, so he went to the bank and asked for a loan. The bank gave him the money, and he used it to buy a shop where he could fix cars. Even though there was a big fire that destroyed the whole shop,

So, what happened was that this guy decided to open up a new shop where he fixes things. But not just anywhere; he picked a spot in the city where there are lots of people and things going on. And guess what? He started getting a bunch of new customers right away! So, there's this place called Ado Service Garage in Seoul. It started out small, but over time, it became really popular for fixing cars. People love going there because they know they'll get great service and their cars will be taken care of. So, during the Korean War, there was a thing called the Japanese occupational government. They decided to take over Chung's company, which means they became its boss.
